Frsky ACCESS Advanced Communication Control

Frsky ACCESS Advanced Communication Control

Introduction
FrSky is constantly striving to improve the performance and reliability of RC transmission. The FrSky ACCESS protocols are currently the most advanced and offer more features than traditional protocols.
FrSky has developed outstanding new ideas that better play and even expand the role of traditional protocols. ACCESS builds on our recognized ACCST protocol and offers visionary features such as Smart Share ™, Smart Match ™ and Trio Control ™. Once a receiver is registered to a radio, it can be re-bonded at any time without accessing your receiver's F/S button. Sharing models has never been easier and updating has also been simplified. You no longer need to physically connect your receivers to update them. In addition, new tools such as a spectrum analyzer and power meter are now available on your transmitter.

Always on the cutting edge of technology, we designed ACCESS to enhance your flying experience by allowing you to do more with your transmitter and receiver than ever before.

Here is the ACCESS system

Main functions and features
Increased performance with faster baud rate and lower latency
Supports 24 full range channels
Some models require more than the 16 provided by the previous protocol. For these users, ACCESS can use up to 24 channels from one signal.
Increased baud rate and lower latency
ACCESS offers faster speeds and more precise tricks than ever before. Staying ahead of the competition is extremely important. Lower latency results in faster response time.

More convenient M2M (Multi to Multi) technology

Wireless binding, updates and configuration
Access to the receiver for binding, updating and configuration is no longer necessary as this process is now performed wirelessly. Thanks to the wireless connection, sharing your models with other FrSky users has never been easier. (Smart ShareTM).
Automatic binding (Smart MatchTM)
Binding to your model is more secure than ever before. Once a receiver is registered to a radio, you can easily establish a wireless connection to your models without having to access the F/S button on your receiver. The dual certification of transmitter and receiver makes the binding process more secure than before.
Channel remapping
Have you ever plugged in and installed a receiver only to find out that everything was connected to the wrong input? Now you can easily reassign the channel order on your transmitter.
Manageable Telemetry (Trio ControlTM)
You can configure telemetry for up to 3 receivers simultaneously from the radio. You no longer need to use STK tools and Smart Port enables the use of third party input/output devices with passthrough mode.

More reliability and security - Anti-interference and anti-hijack system
ACCESS allows the radio to act as a spectrum analyzer
You can now use your transmitter to monitor the airwaves that allow you to measure your signal strength and others in your vicinity. The spectrum analyzer allows the user to measure the power, noise and distortion of the surrounding frequencies.
ACCESS allows the radio to act as a power meter
This new feature allows the RF power of external devices to be measured.
Advanced encryption algorithm
Higher encryption means more certainty that your model's signal will not be interfered with.

FAQ
Q: What is Smart MatchTM?
A: Now you get extra security before you fly. Smart MatchTM gets dual certification from your receiver and your transmitter to give you double protection.

Q: What is Smart ShareTM?
A: Now you can bind multiple transmitters to one receiver and Smart ShareTM ensures you have a unique certification for each transmitter. If you are flying competitively, you can set up two identical transmitters and have a spare ready in case you need it. No need to find the F / S button on the receiver. It's all ready to go. Many clubs have trainer planes to help new modelers. Now it's easy to allow authorized multiple transmitters to connect to the trainer plane's receiver.

Q: What is Trio ControlTM?
A: With ACCESS, one transmitter can control the signal and/or telemetry for up to 3 receivers per model. The receiver redundancy provides additional safety when flying larger models.

Q: What are the improvements of the ACCESS protocol compared to ACCST?
A:The ACCESS protocol supports up to 24 channels with increased transmission rate and lower latency (total latency from Tx stick input to Rx channel output) and increased performance.
8-Channel mode: fixed latency of 11 ms / telemetry upstream rate increased by 40% / telemetry downstream rate increased by 60%
16-channel mode: latency from 14 to 23 ms / telemetry upstream rate increased by 40% / telemetry downstream rate increased by 60%
24-channel mode: Latency from 14 to 23 ms / Telemetry downstream rate increased by 60%

Q: Are there any differences between old and new products when using the ACCESS protocol?
A: Yes. Some of the new features such as the power meter have been developed and optimized with the new FrSky transmitters (e.g. Taranis X-Lite Pro). When it comes to wireless performance, the new updated RF module has been specifically designed to use the new ACCESS protocol. This provides a better connection than a standard module.

Q: Which frequency band is supported by the new ACCESS protocol?
A: The FrSky ACCESS protocol is applied to 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz working frequency bands with different power differences. This will work with the new dual frequency products such as transmitters, Tx modules and receivers coming out this year.

Q: In what scenario can I use the Smart ShareTM feature?
A: A user has 3 different FrSky radios for each aircraft type and wants to fly them all with a single radio. As long as the receiver is already registered to the transmitters, the user does not need to access the F / S button on the receiver to switch transmitters.
RC competitors often carry a spare radio in case something happens to the primary radio. In this case, the pilot can switch to the 2nd radio without accessing the F / S button on his model's receiver if his model's receiver is also registered to the backup radio.
Clubs that own and operate community aircraft for special purposes, such as aircraft for towing gliders to altitude, are no longer required to own only one specific radio for that aircraft. Each authorized pilot can use their own FrSky transmitter with their own unique ID, and a user who wants to share a model with a friend can now allow the user to bind to the model without accessing the F/S button. If the model is returned, it can simply be re-bonded without accessing the F / S button.

Q: Which receivers support the ACCESS protocol?
A: The first updates include RX4R, RX6R, G-RX6 and G-RX8.
The second batch includes RXSR, XM, XM Plus and RX8R Pro.

Q: Are there different versions of ACCESS receivers and transmitters for different regions?
A: There are no different versions of ACCESS receivers, but the transmitters have separate modes (LBT and non-LBT modes). The ACCESS receiver automatically recognizes the working mode according to the transmitter when it communicates. LBT mode only works in the EU. Users in the US and other countries can select either mode.

Q: Is it possible to fly my ACCST receivers with a new ACCESS transmitter?
A: If users have an additional FrSky transmitter and some ACCST receivers that are not yet supported by ACCESS, you can keep the ACCST protocol firmware and consider upgrading to ACCESS in the future. FrSky suggests that users upgrade their transmitters and receivers to the ACCESS protocol to get new features, if supported.

F: Regarding the external module for the new FrSky radios. New
A: FrSky will mainly use the 8-pin module interface (Lite version) for the new upcoming radios. For the manufacturers of the third-party external modules that meet the following requirements, FrSky will provide the necessary software and hardware supports, including the technical material, interface design, etc.
1the third-party external modules should be verified by FrSky compatibility testing.
2. The manufacturer does not interfere with the intellectual property of others (individual, organization and company).
