The built-in gyro filters out the so-called noise in the flight controller caused by various components of the copter with the help of advanced statistical methods, so that a smooth fly with your race drone is possible.
The extra power of the board is just to filter the junk data or unfiltered garbage from the flight data, since gyro noise is a big problem for a stable flight.
