Two Weeks of E-Commerce, Technology, and FPV Drones—My High School Internship at Meilon GmbH (FPV24.com)

In July 2025, I had the opportunity to complete my two-week student internship at Meilon GmbH in Remagen. As a passionate FPV drone pilot, I was eager to experience firsthand how a major online store like FPV24.com operates behind the scenes and how my hobby could be combined with exciting insights into the working world.

On the very first day, I was warmly welcomed by the team and given a tour of the warehouse and office spaces. Then I got right to work: I was able to help out in the warehouse by “picking” orders—that is, assembling ordered items using a digital system—and preparing them for shipment. In the process, I quickly learned how precise and organized an online store must be to ensure that all orders reach customers smoothly and quickly.

Over the next few days, I gained insights into many other areas:

• Returns processing —from inspecting defective drones to replacing parts.
• Customer support —how inquiries are handled and solutions are found.
• Accounting —including refunds and managing orders through platforms like Amazon, Otto, and Kaufland.
• 3D printing —from preparing and printing custom parts to cleaning and packaging them.

In the second week, my focus shifted to marketing and product preparation. Here, I was able to analyze the FPV24.com store from a customer’s perspective and identify several issues, some of which were resolved immediately. I also tested, cleaned, and prepared around 30 FPV goggles from returns for resale. I was also able to observe the professional product photography process to see how the items are subsequently prepared for the online store.

What I remember most is working on my own drone. Together with the team, I tested new 3D-printed prototypes and optimized my setup. This allowed me to actively incorporate my hobby into the internship while learning a lot about product development and testing processes.

After two weeks, I can say that my internship at Meilon GmbH was not only educational but also incredibly varied. I not only saw how a modern online store operates but also gained valuable experience in various areas, ranging from logistics and technology to accounting, marketing, and product preparation.

A big thank you to the entire team for the great support, the many exciting tasks, and the opportunity to combine my passion for drones with real insights into the professional world. This internship has shown me that a future in e-commerce or technology is definitely a possibility for me.
